PART FOUR:
Venturing into verse number six of Matthew chapter 7 will be the icing on the cake as to if one can judge or not. Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. This verse seems odd and out of place. Seemingly it has nothing to with the previous five verses. If we take a strong hard look at this short parable, we will clearly see that it is all about discernment. Do not give what is holy to the dogs, is not that interesting that Jesus also called the lady at the well a dog in Matthew 15 verse 26, But he answered and said, it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. Know who you are dealing with and deal with them accordingly. We are not to give everything to any and everybody. Some cannot handle it and will misuse it and abuse what is precious in the eyes of the Lord and has been set apart by Him for Him. Take the LBGTQ community for an example, The LBGTQ community love to use this verse against conservative Christians. The verse is speaking of such people taken what is precious and using it against the Christian community. The rest of verse 6 neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Beware, Beware, beware of who you are giving your jewels to. Your Jewels can be information about business, family, or scripture. Information given to the wrong person can destroy you or someone else. On the other hand, giving information to the right person at the right time can help up lift you, a friend, or a congregation. Judas is a great example of swine trampling the pearls from the Lord and using that precious information against the Lord. Judas knew exactly where Jesus and the rest of the disciples would be, at the Garden in Gethsemane, because this is a place that they went to on a regular basis. All of us have been betrayed at some point in our lives by someone we trusted with the pearls they never should have had privy to. So, we must be wise in our judgment or discernment of others and know who we are trusting with what is precious to us.
If you are still confused about using your God given discerning spirit, in part five we will look at other places in the scriptures where judgement is commanded or ordered.
